Has your fiction found a snag?
Does your poetry fizzle rather than sizzle?
Do your personal essays need some oomph?
Aligning yourself with a Critique Circle that supports, encourages and drives you to higher levels in writing is one of the best things you can do as writer.
The goal of Critique Circles is to grow as writers, learning and providing insight via quality critique and revision as well as learn critique etiquette and the revision process.
Neither a mutual admiration society nor a story-bashing hour, Critique Circles offer writers a chance to share their work with a close group of individuals who learn each other’s styles and help to further the writer’s abilities through insightful ideas, editing suggestions and constant encouragement.
At the MCWG we have several established Critique Circles, each between four to eight members in size. The circles are grouped according to genre, location or experience. For example, there is a Fiction Circle, a Non-Fiction Circle, as well as Beginners Circles. Some Critique Circles have been in place for many years based on location. If you have a differing genre, or know several members that would like to form a new Critique Circle, the MCWG can help you get started.
MCWG Critique Circles are not designed as a professional editing service or manuscript review system. The Circles are part of the non-profit efforts of the MCWG to edify local Christian writers.
Critique Circles are offered free to MCWG members only. If you are ready to take your writing to the next level, join a Critique Circle by contacting the Vice President of the Guild.
